School News

Junior high is tough but Allan and Nathan are rocking it. They are definitely doing a ton of homework and learning to manage their schedules. Allan's go to study spot is in the dining room. He is independent other than a few math questions for his Dad. He enjoys all of his classes but his passion this year is football. Everyday we hear reports at dinner of how he caught a great pass or was able to block someone. He has learned that attitude is everything. His coach said, "I want to put Keith in every time." During the first three quarters different groups rotate in and out but during the 4th quarter, the coaches play the best players. Allan plays all of 4th quarter in offense, defense, and special teams. With approximately 75 players on the team, it really means something. He is loving Spanish and already has a great accent. He enjoys playing Tuba but doesn't have much spare time to play it. He leaves for the bus at 7:35 AM and gets home about 5:15 PM everyday, except for Tuesday at 9:00 PM (Game Day).

Allan and Nathan are both in Honors band. I attended their first concert and it was a ton of fun to listen to them play.

Nathan is loving the independence of 7th Grade. This year in math, they are doing the "flipped classroom" method which is watching videos and taking notes at home and doing problems and going over the lesson in class. He enjoys the clarinet and is starting to play some really fun songs. In humanities, there are a ton of projects. After school, he goes to robotics club. They are designing a robot for a competition on Oct. 20.  He is in the public relations group which is responsible for this website. http://cmsrobotics.yolasite.com/

Nathan dropped his clarinet top piece at school one day on the hard tile while cleaning it. Although just a small piece broke off it had to be replaced. So we were scrambling after school to find a replacement. I absolutely love that we have a music store a couple miles away. $30 later it was ready to be played.
Joshua is excelling in 4th Grade. He has two teachers this year, Ms. Durie and Mrs. Nortman. He walks home everyday with Joshua Scott. His homework is minimal, 30 minutes, except there is a challenge to read at least 40 books this year. The books have to be in different genres and at least 100 pages long. The 4th Grader who reads the most will get a prize. This is something Joshua is working towards. Piano is going well as is scouts. Joshua's favorite snack is chips and salsa.

With two older brothers quite busy and Joshua growing up, he has been given more responsibilities around the house. I have found that he works best with racing the timer. Clean the kitchen, clean the bathrooms, pack the lunches - it is amazing how he is motivated to beat the timer. He is one hardworking kid.
Emily loves second grade and loves her teacher Miss Horton. Joshua had her two years ago and I knew Emily would do well with her also. She has tons of friends in the class from the beginning - Charlotte, Meghan, and Tess. She is one of the top readers in her class and gets daily homework.
This girl loves to shop. Her best friend, Hannah, was turning 8 so she made a list of all the stores she wanted to visit so she could get the perfect gift for her.
I am now a Webelos leader and Emily loves that she can be involved in all of the activities again.  I am going to get her a scout binder as well.
When Emily gets ready for school, she usually sets out her clothing including accessories the night before. She calls it, "Fake me."
Check out the accessories she has planned out for a week. Love this girl!
Rachel is loving her preschool group
Rachel, Kate, and Katie
 So much fun to teach.
Rachel especially loves craft time.

This little girl loves her brothers and sister. After putting the girls to bed, I came up 15 minutes later to check on things. Rachel snuck out of bed to listen to Allan play his tuba. She said, "Allan told me he would play his tuba softly so I could fall asleep." That was the first and probably only that I heard tuba and softly in the same sentence.

Rachel's new Cinderella money bank. Isn't it cute? Perfect for this little princess lover.
