Village of Fairview Again

When we are out in public, Rachel prefers Jacob over anyone. She knows he is the source of "fun."

Since we had so much fun playing in the water, we brought the family to play at the Village of Fairview. Everyone had so much fun and were soaked in the end.

Championship Game

Football in Texas is taken to a whole new level here. The coaches are passionate about the sport and generally care about the boys but winning is everything. Allan's team is the Huskies and they played against the Patriots. The Patriots were a great team with a lot of talent but also did everything they could to win. During the season, they had to forfeit a game because all of their flags were connected in a way that they were impossible to pull off. During the game, we saw a lot of great moments by both teams - interceptions, blocks, and catches but we also saw the Patriots also make some great long passes that quickly scored some points. The Patriot's quarterback had a good arm. In the end, the score was 40 to 21. It was a great season!

Allan running his route and trying to get open so the quarterback can throw him the ball.

Turning around to look for the pass.

Motioning to the quarterback so he can see he is ready.

Allan injured himself somehow spraining his ankle.

Injuries

Jacob took the boys to Father and Sons and they had so much FUN!!! They love playing kickball, football, hiking, and playing in the fire. Joshua injured himself with a stick and patched it up himself.

Going to the Super Bowl

Allan has played Flag Football this season for the Huskies. They are a team made up of students who attend Boon. Their coach lives in our neighborhood and goes by "Coach Eddie." I have absolutely LOVED that practice is so close and that Allan can ride his bike to practice. Allan is so enthusiastic and often goes to the 7th grade practice as well. He has played tight end but he was changed to right wide receiver. On Saturday, they were in the semifinals and they beat the Tigers. To the Huskies, this is like going to the "Super Bowl" They are so excited and have definitely worked hard.

Allan is one of the fastest players on his team. He does a great job of running his routes and has caught every ball thrown to him. As a side note, the team loves watching Rachel at the end of the game. She runs up to Allan and gives him a great big hug. I've had many comments from others about how they love to watch my kids because they truly love each other.

Next to the game field is this small playground. Rachel LOVED the slide.

Nathan's 10 Year Old Party

Since we were out of town for Nathan's birthday and a busy schedule, we had a belated birthday party for Nathan on Friday May 14. It was super fun and Nathan had a great time and was spoiled with gifts.
Games we played: How well do you know Nathan? - memory of things on a tray, Team Trivia Game, Candy Bar Game - a game similar to "Go Fish" (They LOVED this one), Dice Game (a well wrapped candybar that you can open with a 3, 7, 11 or doubles. First one to get to it wins. This game got loud and often went on pause as we lost the dice under some of the wrapping paper.
Games we planned to play: Capture the Flag, Sock wars, Mafia, Team relays, and Flour cutting.(Nathan wants a 3 hour party next time.)
Friends who Came: Alex, Christian, Ryan, Case, Joshua S., Andrew, Matthew, and Joshua

Almost 5 Years Old

With Nathan's party planned and ready, I decided to have two parties in one day. Emily's birthday is June 10 but we decided to have it early. I was in "party mode" and it worked out perfectly. I definitely consider doing it again! The house was decorated and ready to go. She invited all of her preschool friends and two other friends from church. She choose a princess theme and once it was planned wanted to change to luau. But I convinced her that we would do that next year. I made her the cutest cupcake cake. It worked out well to serve everyone. Emily blew each candle out separately and was so careful not to burn her hair.

Games Played: Match Cinderella's Slipper, Find the Pea - You must real be a Princess, Princess Princess Frog, Treasure Hunt, and a couple of ballon games. I think the girl's loved the Treasure Hunt best but all of the games were fun. They especially loved getting prizes along the way.

Freezer Jam

With 15 pounds of strawberries, you can make a ton of jam. It is so delicious and addicting. My kids love it more than any store bought jam.

How We Cut Onions

Allan is interested in cooking and is willing to help. I think he has inherited the "Keith cooking gene."

So, So, So Tempted Just to Cut her Hair

Emily was playing "Beauty Shop" with her hair. Usually she just puts in a few barrets and tries other accessories. Today, she tangled her hair tightly around this brush. It was almost impossible to untangle and it took over an hour to get it out. She had a few hairs pulled out and she complained that it hurt that I have no doubt she will not do this ever, ever again.

Fairview Splash Park

Today we discovered the new Fairview Splash Park. The fountain is a splash pad that kids can play in, but it also does a timed show in the evening.

Emily loved the interactive fountains. Rachel was hesitant for a while but with Emily leading the way, she soon followed. We will definitely be returning to cool off here this summer.

Nap Time Rarely Exists Here But This is What it Looks Like When it Does Happen

One day both Emily and Rachel were exhausted and fell asleep on the floor in front of the tv. Notice that Rachel is wearing a purse and dressup shoes and holding onto the remote control.

Time for Summer

We went to the pool today. That means it was time for sunscreen. Each kid has their preference for spray or the rub variety. All of kids willingly line up. I let Joshua put it on himself and he got it in his eyes. With the wagon loaded, we walked down to the pool. Emily and Rachel wore their life jackets. The water was cold but the kids didn't care. Nathan is a fish and content the entire time. He easily makes friends and shares swim toys. Joshua tried diving in and he is close to doing right but it is not a smooth entry. He struggles to swim across the pool. After 45 minutes, it is time to go. The kids huddle tightly in their towels trying to get warm. We run home in the windy air.

What happened to my little girl?

Emily started preschool with this group of girls in Aug. 2008. Now she is getting so close to kindergarten - 3 1/2 months away. She is so excited for Kindergarten. I will miss her like CRAZY every day in the fall (as will Rachel). I pray for a good teacher that will know how lucky she is to spend the day with her and will help her blossom. Emily loves all of her preschool friends - Kate Morrell, Gretta Foulger, Chloe Christiansen, and Ava Komenda.

Emily loves rhyming and does it all of the time, loves playing with her brothers, playing Polly Pockets, My Little Ponies, and coloring. She sings the songs she learns at Primary at home. She is counting the days until her birthday party.
