School Sports - Tennis and Run Club

This year, Nathan, Joshua, and Emily, participated in the Run Club and Tennis Club. Both are over now, a sign that summer is around the corner. Tennis Club, taught the fundamentals of tennis and worked a ton on ball handling skills.
Every time they meet, the coaches had different games or drills to work on. By the end, their ball handling skills improved and so did their confidence.
Joshua practicing his volley skills.
Emily loved Tennis Club until the last day when she was accidentally hit by a racket. She always paired up with Tess, the only other first grader participating in Tennis Club.

Spring Campout included...

* football, frisbee, and other games
*Elm Point at Eisenhower State Park
*large fire to cook on - used up a ton of firewood
*11 yr olds cooked all three meals
*hike around the lake and identify animals and plants

13 Scouts at Lake Texoma at Eisenhower State Park

Allan ALWAYS has a ball with him.

Great camping trips always have good food. One scout was overheard saying, "What meal was your favorite?"

Eisenhower State Park is beautiful. The boys enjoyed the hiking, climbing, and discovering all that is there.

This camp out was dedicated to having the 11 Year Old Scouts pass off requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. The older boys enjoyed teaching and helping.

They played lots of football.

Nathan's Birthday Celebrations!

It is Nathan's birthday today. Last night he went camping with the 11 Year Old Scouts and Deacons. I know he loved sleeping in the woods and roasting marshmallows and waking up to celebrate his birthday. We celebrated last week with his friends but today we celebrated as a family.
Birthday Breakfast: Mini Fluffy Oven Pancakes with blackberries, strawberries, and whipped cream.
Lunch: Schlotzsky's
Dinner: Italian is his favorite. Tortellini.
Yep, that big number twelve sure got celebrated.
12 Things I LOVE about this kid
  1. He is self motivated by his own schedule. I never tell him to do his homework or practice his music.
  2. He's a hard worker. He sticks with jobs until they're done. (most of the time at least :)
  3.  He is an early riser. I often wake up to Nathan already awake getting his chores done.
  4.  He is super smart.
  5. He is dedicated to his goals. He read the Quad in 2 1/2 years.
  6. I love his sense of humor.
  7. Nathan is gifted musically. He loves the piano and clarinet. I love to listen to him practice.
  8. He is so sweet with his sisters. There are many times I need him to entertain Rachel for a while, and he does a great job of it.
  9. He is quick to obey.
  10. He is imaginative. He loves legos and creatively builds things.
  11. Nathan is our game kid. He loves playing all kinds of games.
  12. He is a good friend. He always has a best friend.

Random Happenings from March and April

Nathan was awarded his Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class.
Allan earned his Life. Next step is Eagle. He has two merit badges to complete as well as a project.
Allan and Nathan started working on their Fingerprinting Merit Badges.

March Pack Meeting was at Little Harts Preschool where we learned about compassion.
The carriage rides were a hit!
Nathan went with his best friend, Christian to the zoo.
Emily went with her best friend, Hannah.

Everyone had a great time.

Rachel loves her brothers and sister and looks forward to them coming home. She will do anything with them.

She loves to listen to Joshua practice the piano and dance to it. Check out her morning unbrushed hair. It is a nightmare sometimes to comb it out but so beautiful when it is done.

Emily gave a talk in primary and drew all of the visual aides. The focus of her talk was that it is easier to keep the commandments 100% of the time rather than 98% of the time.

Nathan attend his first Priesthood session of conference. Joshua was mortified that he had to go clothes shopping with the girls and is so anxious to grow up so he doesn't have to go with us.

Friday the 13th - Nathan's Birthday

We celebrated Nathan's 12th birthday on April 13th at Adventureland in Dallas. It was so much fun. Unlimited laser tag (their favorite),
unlimited miniature golf (Check out how Rachel plays.),
pizza, and arcade games. Nathan invited his three best friends - Christian, Christopher, and Anaraug.
It was a blast and everyone had a great time.
