Scout Camp

Allan left before 4:00 in the morning for his first year of scout camp. 7 boys, 6 days, and 5 merit badges. Camp Cherokee also known as Camp Trevor Ree Jones is a 540 acre site located next to Athens, TX. The activities provided include swimming, a 141-foot water slide, a blob, hiking on one of the many nature trails, archery, rifle and shotgun, rowing, canoeing, rock climbing, and horse back riding. Jacob attended the first two days and took valuable videos and a couple pictures. When the boys first arrived, they all did a swim test which is swimming a 75 yard freestyle, 25 yds. backstroke, and tread water for 5 minutes. Allan did extremely well and even beat one of the life guards. The life guard was teased, "You just got beat by a 12 year old." Love it! He served as kitchen assistant two times. The boy is in charge of helping set up the table, serve food to the table, and clean up. During their free time, they played Mafia, pinecone baseball, and card games. Allan LOVED the whole experience.

Merit Badges Earned: Swimming, Environmental Science, Camping, First Aid, and Canoeing.
